The Data and Analytics team is responsible for leveraging data and analytics to inform decision making across all parts of the enterprise, fueling our ability to unleash the next generation of customer experiences and to transform the way Best Buy operates.

The Director of Marketing Decision Science & Analytics is responsible for the strategy, execution and adoption of marketing analytics, optimization, reporting and high impact insights. This experienced leader will advance marketing analytics to fuel data-driven decisions across Media, Brand and Category Marketing, and the Best Buy Advertising Business. In this role, you will blend experience with advanced analytics tools, thought leadership in analytic strategy and a proven ability to work across technology and business teams to design and deliver new solutions.

What will you do?
  • Develop marketing analytics strategies that advance data and analytics applications in support of multiple internal/external stakeholders
  • Manage and evolve portfolio of marketing effectiveness and optimization capabilities to meet changing needs of media and advertising partners
  • Lead and coach a diverse and high-performing team to expand and advance the role and impact of marketing analytics throughout Best Buy
  • Develop relationships and collaborate with business partners across Marketing, Data & Analytics, as well as Digital & Technology, to leverage best-in-class platforms and support multi-disciplinary business needs
  • Blend strong analytical aptitude with business acumen to understand marketing strategy, objectives and drive data-driven analyses that serves the customer first
  • Proactively deliver insights to marketing leaders that positively impact the business through increased adoption of data-driven decision making
  • Keep abreast of new theories, strategies and best practices in the industry and think beyond current knowledge and existing assumptions to develop new solutions, applications and strategies
  • Develop a strategic vision for the team and participate in budgeting and the annual planning process

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, engineering, the physical sciences, computer science, marketing/business or similar field with quantitative rigor
  • 11 years or more experience in retail, analytics, business, or related area
  • 5 years or more experience applying analytical techniques to answer business questions or scientific questions
  • 6 years or more of direct or indirect managerial or leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in business, statistics, mathematics, economics, engineering, the physical sciences, computer science or similar field with quantitative rigor.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating/influencing cross functional business teams/decisions
  • 5 years or more experience leveraging data science and data visualization tools, such as SQL, Tableau/PowerBI, SAS, R and/or Python
  • 1 year or more of influencing and presenting to executives
