Best Buy invites you to join the Agile and Product Practices Crew as our Associate Director of Agile Coaching. This leadership position is an exceptional opportunity to lead in with the full range of tools from the Agile and Product movements as Best Buy probes, senses, and responds to the current retail and social landscape. In this role, you will directly support people, teams, groups, leaders, and other coaches in two distinct ways:
  • You will lead with others all aspects the Agile and Product Practices Crew. The Agile & Product Practices Crew exists to help Best Buy respond to changing signals from customers, business, and technology. As a leader on this team, we will look to you to collaboratively craft and improve upon our Product Model, comprised of aligned and empowered Product teams with autonomy to create value. We do this in service of enriching lives with technology, specifically by helping Best Buy be more customer and employee obsessed, digital first, and human powered. The Associate Director of Agile Coaching will directly lead by contributing to the direction, service design, and daily operations of the Agile and Product Practices Crew. You will be supported by fellow leaders on a dynamic leadership team that is highly collaborative, nimble, and hard working. You will live real stories of profound change and resiliency, and then share those stories back to the community to inspire, encourage, and build again.
  • You will directly support other managers and coaches working in highly complex, uncertain, and ambiguous times. All members of the Agile and Product Practices are by title “Coaches”, be they serving teams in a Scrum Master capacity, facilitating groups of product teams, training and teaching, or supporting leadership groups at any elevation. In your role as an Associate Director, in close concert with the Director of Agile Coaching, you will manage front line coaches, managers of coaches, and contract workers. You will hires, onboards, supports, develops, and evaluates Coaches, in the context of individual professional goals. You will help set up coaching engagements of highly variable length and make tradeoffs on where coaching time is invested.
Key Responsibilities:
  • In concert with other leaders, creates and supports a coaching strategy
  • Make sure coaches are managed (hire/fire/evaluate, standards, developed and sharing learning, grounded in common stuff)
  • Facilitate the sharing of agile best practices and product learning across teams in concert with coaches – tells stories of the value of coaching
  • Fills in and helps out when needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience driving the adoption of agile practices across multiple teams and groups
  • 3+ years of experience demonstrated success developing engaged, inclusive teams
  • 1+ years of direct people management or a role providing feedback and coaching to individuals, making recommendations on talent placement, and/or mentoring employees.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive background of work that demonstrates advanced knowledge and skill in educating and coaching around agile principles and practices
  • Demonstrated understanding with varied agile methodologies and user-centered design practices
  • Understanding of customer insights, including quantitative and qualitative research and other customer signals from search, digital, and social data
  • Ability to effectively communicate design and technology concepts to executives, teams, and stakeholders
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships at all levels and ensuring teams create a collaborative culture
  • Previous experience within or collaborating with user experience and engineering teams
  • Ability to work in ambiguity and break-down ambiguity into actionable items
  • Ability to navigate internal and external landscapes
  • Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills
