Head of Studio

Best Buy Creative is excited to share a new role, Head of Studio, a leadership role dedicated to running a full-scale creative production capability supporting Marketing and Customer content needs. This position is a leadership role within Creative Production and accountable for three primary areas:

Team Leadership:
  • Learns, grows and supports all studio personnel in safe and energetic environments. Cultivates strong personal connections with the team, overall culture for the location and is dedicated to amplifying the expertise within the team
  • Creates and maintains an engaged and high performing environment rooted in and exemplifying the Best Buy values- Be human. Make it Real. Think about tomorrow.
  • Oversees all production expenditures, including headcount, content and production costs, equipment, tools, software, etc.
  • Develops and maintains effective processes and workflows to ideate, source and scale production to meet volume targets while effectively managing costs
  • Inspires team creativity and innovation across offerings, solutions and executions
Physical Location:
  • Owns physical facility operations, clear and specific alignments to Best Buy policies and creates a culture of a relentless commitment to safety in all actions
  • Leads physical location operations, policies, procedures, staff and in-housed creation capabilities at a dedicated production location supporting photography, motion, video sound stages and edit/audio suites
  • Accountable for day-to-day operations, ensuring strategies are met, costs are controlled and maximum productivity is achieved
  • Defines, implements and executes successful studio operations and workflow automation
Strategic capability growth and enablement:
  • Shapes and leads the Studio vision, execution plans and leading the Studio through change, any the size or scale
  • Delivers on today and equally envisions a future to support evolving creative/production capabilities to meet our quickly-changing customer needs
  • Develops and delivers strategy for the Studio that clearly identifies goals reflecting equal consideration of both operational and creative needs
  • Develops process, efficiencies and proactively ideates/shares continuous improvement opportunities
  • Passion and appreciation for process
  • 10 years proven leadership with direct team management
  • 10+ years experience with scaled creative productions – budgets ranging from small/scrappy to significant
  • 10+ years hands-on production experience across a variety of creative production ranging across a variety of content types (examples: photography, video, edit, audio)
  • 10+ years photography expertise; curating, sourcing and developing bench talent to support specific production needs
  • 10+ years experience working in a cross-functional environment where content is influenced by multiple stakeholders, including external clients
  • Independently proficient in MS Office suite: Word, Excel, Power Point
  • In person/on location at the Production Studio
Preferred Experience:
  • 10+ years Agency experience
  • Industry experience curating photography talent connections
  • Flexibility, initiative, dedication and the ability to drive work independently
  • Networking and artist relations
  • Knowledge of photography, video creation/edit, recording sessions and studio operations
