Best Buy Procurement has recently embarked on a transformational journey with the purpose of elevating value generation for the Enterprise. This will be achieved by optimizing the functional foundation (process, technology, capability), enabling operational efficiencies and reprioritizing effort to proactive, strategic activity. The new VP of Procurement is building an experienced leadership team responsible for executing the transformation. The Director will play a key role in this process by contributing to the overall strategy, including implementation, people development and change management.

The Director will also be responsible for developing and executing commercial category and sourcing strategies for critical to business spend areas, while leading a team of procurement professionals. This position will closely collaborate with senior functional business leaders across the organization.

What will you do?
Lead and develop world class Procurement category and sourcing strategies that enable enterprise-wide objectives while driving value creation:
  • Partner with leaders across enterprise to translate business objectives into effective strategies.
  • Leverage category expertise and market insights to proactively develop value generating programs for the business.
  • Engage leadership attributes to deliver continuous improvements and problem resolution while building and sustaining relationships with stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Establish stakeholder engagement strategy that delivers expected services against functional SLAs.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential and credible suppliers that create long-term mutually beneficial value.
  • Drive consistency, transparency, alignment among all business teams, including global and outsourced partners (where applicable) to provide consistent, world class services to clients.

Functional Optimization
  • Identify and lead realization of commercial goals and functional objectives.
  • Monitor performance against key performance indicators.
  • Lead the exploration of new processes and capabilities for continued elevation of world class procurement capability.

Talent Management
  • Recruit and develop an engaged, diverse, highly skilled team.
  • Set clear effective goals and expectations as a key part of managing performance to drive business outcomes using existing performance management tools.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 10 or more years strategic Sourcing and Category Management: strategy development, strategy execution including negotiation, contracting, and supplier performance management
  • Prior experience leading procurement transformation efforts including at least 2 of the following: organizational development, S2P technology implementation, operating framework development and optimization, stakeholder governance model creation and implementation
  • 7 or more years of direct people management and development experience
  • 7 or more years of experience collaborating with and influencing senior level stakeholders
  • 7 or more years of demonstrated experience in building relationships with C-level executives, developing trust and influencing recommendations

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 or more years of prior technology strategic sourcing experience
  • 5 or more years of prior marketing strategic sourcing experience
  • 5 or more years of experience with outsourced relationships
  • MBA or similar relevant experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and stakeholders from different functions, businesses, and backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate complex ideas simply with people at all levels in an organization
  • Ability to thrive in a highly dynamic, time sensitive, and collaborative environment
  • High degree of comfort with ambiguity and white-space thinking
  • Comfort with agile ways of working, shifting focus and resources on key immediate priorities
