Engineering Director- Process Automation- Remote Eligible

Role Summary:
Best Buy is seeking a Director of Engineering to play a key role in shaping the future of Best Buy's Process Automation capabilities. The Process Automation team is an integral part of the quickly growing Best Buy Automation program which has aggressive goals of transforming the way we work by reducing manual processes across the enterprise. This is a unique opportunity to build a new team in a highly strategic, highly visible area. In your role as the Director of Engineering Automation you will be responsible for building out our internal RPA and BPM engineering teams while creating a culture that values inclusivity and quality. Unlike traditional engineering teams, your team will work across the entire enterprise to deliver automation solutions that enable our most strategic priorities. Accountabilities for this position span across software delivery, user interface design, engineering practices, development frameworks, stakeholder delight, team and organizational design, and pioneering of new ways of working.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Development of coding standards and approach to code management/version control
  • Buildout and management of the BBY Automation Engineering Team
    • Creation of a plan for transitioning knowledge and responsibilities from existing partners
  • Delivery of high-quality, scalable automation solutions across the enterprise
    • Ensures team creates Solution Diagram Documents (SDD) and modeling estimates for each assigned use case
    • Reviews functional specifications to ensure solution is technically sound
    • Ensures team translates functional specifications and business process analysis into technical specifications. Codes and tests work according to standards/best practices
    • Ensures that solutions comply with coding standards and align with the SDD
    • Ensures that the team consistently completes work within estimated timeframes.
  • Creates vision and priorities for engineering team; adapts to changing priorities, and maintains patience in high-pressure situations
  • Partners with Automation Operations Team to investigate, analyze, and resolve problems with production automation/bots
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 8 or more years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience
  • 2 or more years experience managing and leading engineering teams
  • 1 or more years managing managers
  • 6 or more years of experience in agile software delivery
  • 4 or more years of experience with one or more of the following automation technologies: Blue Prism, UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Pega or related technologies
