Digital Engineer II - Platform Engineering

As a Digital Engineer II, you will play a key role in shaping the future of disruptive digital innovation in BestBuy Platform Engineering.

The initiatives in this area will help transform and augment an engineers toolbelt to help drive the next evolution of our developer productivity products. You will help define and communicate the mission to simplify and accelerate the software development experience at Best Buy. You will deeply understand and triangulate across technical engineer's needs, platform product analytics, and external industry innovation to offer best-in-class experiences to Best Buy engineers.

Within Platform Engineering, Product Management is a new function and we’re on a mission to raise the level of product thinking and building empathy across the organization. This is a unique opportunity for you to help shape our product practices, and partner closely with engineering teams through this evolution.

Your Experience will compliment us if it Includes Or Demonstrates...
  • Excellent communication skills, especially when working with a distributed team
  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions applied using emerging modern cloud application products
  • Mentor, pair, and delegate work to encourage growth of those around you. Review code and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback
  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity

Minimum Requirements:
  • 6 or more years of experience in software engineering
  • 1 or more years of experience mentoring others
  • 2 or more years of experience deploying distributed web applications with cloud native tools
  • 3 or more years of experience with REST/web services
  • 1 or more years of experience with front-end framework (AngularJS, VueJS, React)

About the Technology & Preferred Skills:
  • Java, ReactJS, Python, REST, JSON
  • Postgres / CockroachDB
  • Kubernetes based CD patterns & container platforms- Orchestration engines like Argo CD & Spinnaker.
  • Experience working with Service Mesh technologies like Linkerd, Istio & AppMesh
  • Gradle, Maven,
  • React NodeJS
  • Familiarity with Cloud Infrastructure like AWS / GCP / Azure
  • Jenkins / ArgoCD / GitOps tooling
  • OpenShift / Kubernetes
