Engineer, End User Computing

We are seeking an Engineer, End User Computing to join the Best Buy End User Technology – Operations team to support the activities associated with providing end user services thru identifying, prioritizing, and confirming the deployment and support of technology to the enterprise. The work will require the strategy, engineering, configuration and development of End User tools included but not limited to application packaging, group policy, software distribution, and development.
The position will work as part of a team of internal employees and 3rd party vendor partners. The nature of this role requires the ability to work across cultural and geographic boundaries (supporting a hybrid on-shore / off-shore operating model) as well as working in a mission critical 24x7 environment that includes peak retail holiday seasons.

Position Responsibilities include:
  • Package, test and deploy applications for use in the Best Buy corporate environment utilizing various techniques as to make the application available via Microsoft System Center and Flexera’s App Portal.
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of the Flexera’s Application Portal (Self Service) performing upgrades and management of the application catalog
  • Review, build, and support all group policy requests for all Windows workstations for Best Buy corporate. Work side by side with security to vet out all GPO requests prior to implementing.
  • Develop, enhance and support custom coded applications and solutions which are provided to end users for self-serve solutions to increase the overall end user experience.
  • Assist team members in the creation of Windows Operating System Deployment utilizing Microsoft task sequence, PXE boot, and Intune.
  • Assist team in creation and utilization of Microsoft SCORCH runbooks and Microsoft SCOM monitoring.
  • Responsible for assisting in the creation of in-depth reporting for application deployments utilizing SSRS and Power-bi reporting services.
  • Evaluate, test & deploy new technology and innovation solutions that meet the needs of corporate business teams and continuously improve overall end-user experience within Best Buy.
  • Act as lead technical SME when needed for projects within End User Technology Services team’s responsibilities
  • Develop, communicate, maintain system processes and support documentation on enterprise policies, standards and best practices for End User Technology - Operations capabilities.
  • Work with architects to recommend new capabilities and associated roadmaps, recommendations and proposals to senior leadership which include benefits.
  • Provide coaching and work direction to more junior engineers and administrators.
  • Create, drive and improve end user self-serve solutions for L1 and L2 support issues.
Basic/Minimum Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience supporting Windows OS within enterprise environment
  • 2+ years of experience packaging applications
  • 2+ years of experience building Windows operating system in an enterprise environment
  • 2+ years of experience in scripting language such as PowerShell, Python, BASH, REST, HTTP, JSON etc
  • 2+ years administering group policies within an enterprise environment
  • Experience administering an enterprise application catalog
  • Experience using enterprise device management suites such as SCCM, JAMF Pro, AirWatch, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience building a hybrid or full modern management approach of Windows OS management utilizing Intune or Airwatch
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft’s Windows 10 and Office servicing model
  • Understanding of Microsoft AutoPilot and co-management of windows devices utilizing SCCM and Intune.
  • Experience packaging applications utilizing MSIX
  • Experience building and utilizing Power Bi reporting services
  • Experience with automated monitoring systems and technologies, with practical knowledge of Microsoft System Center Suite including System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), and System Center Orchestrator (SCORCH).
  • Experience with enterprise patching of Windows OS for both workstations and servers
  • Experience with Cloud Computing Platform and Services such as Azure, Google Cloud and/or AWS infrastructures.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, initiative, eagerness to learn, improve, and ability to work independently within a team structure with demonstrated progression of responsibilities
  • Experience in diverse background of technologies (will vary based on discipline in EUC)
