The Sr. Sourcing and Category Manager is part of the Procurement team within the newly established Global Business Services unit at Best Buy. There are four (4) positions available, and each plays a key role in the procurement of IT related products and services. Each position is responsible for leading world-class negotiations and a small team responsible for the category management (strategic sourcing, negotiation, contracting and managing supplier performance management) for an established portfolio of products and services. The purpose of the position is to reduce, by using best-practice sourcing strategies, tools and processes, the total cost of ownership for non-merchandise goods and services acquired by Best Buy. The Sr. Category Manager provides sourcing leadership for an established set of similarly grouped goods and services, executing with deep category sourcing and contracting expertise and proficiency. This position interacts with and must influence managers, directors and officers throughout Best Buy.

A senior category manager opening exists for each of the following areas:

* Hardware Acquisition and Maintenance
* Software Licenses and Maintenance
* Communications- Voice, Data, and Services
* Project strategic sourcing and services

These roles

* Support the IT Leadership Team in collaboration with Best Buy business units and outsourced providers in the procurement and provisioning of IT sub-categories, including software, hardware, maintenance, communications and IT services
* Each role will have responsibility for an IT sub-category including strategy development, savings achievement, and sourcing execution. This may include direct reports.
* The role also participates and performs leadership in other strategic IT initiatives as needed
* Must build and maintain a strong relationship with other Global Indirect Procurement groups to ensure that IT is aligned to the key initiatives in corporate procurement
* Communicate the vision and direction for IT Procurement throughout the business and IT communities
* Develop relationships within the IT organization and business units to assist in sourcing strategies, vendor negotiations, problem resolutions and overall vendor performance management.

Basic Qualifications:

* BS/BA degree or higher
* 1 plus years of proven experience with category strategy and business planning development
* 5 plus years of Sourcing and Category Management experience including: Negotiation, contracting and supplier performance management
* 3 plus years of experience managing a team, consisting of either direct or indirect reports

Preferred Requirements

* Advance degree
* Experience negotiating hardware/telecom contracts
* Procurement experience in an outsourced environment
