Best Buy is seeking a Director of Product Management – Activations.

As the Director for our retail facing mobile activation products, you will lead a team of product managers and own the roadmap to define new and innovative ways for our employees to assist our customers who are purchasing and activating mobile devices in store. You will be responsible for managing relationships with key internal and external partners including UX, Engineering, category leaders, mobile carriers and retail to build and launch new features that will meet customer, employee and business needs. As a champion of your strategy and customers, you will evangelize your strategy and obtain buy-in from key stakeholders across the organization, including executive leadership.

This role is responsible for deeply understanding the needs of the user and collaborating with stakeholders to define a vision and roadmap for their products. The Director of Product Management is also accountable for providing management and support of existing products as well as the development of new retail product initiatives creating strategic direction.

This role leads an expert team to ensure strategies delight our customers and leave our employees feeling engaged and excited about their role in the organization. This role is constantly thinking about and developing strategies and products that are simple, clear, efficient, and effective while enabling human-centered design to deliver the roadmap.

This leader will have a demonstrated history of defining and delivering solutions that meet the needs of the user, accomplishing this both through their work, and by leading and inspiring teams. They will have a knack for balancing user needs, technical delivery, and business needs in a way that creates meaningful experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead outcome-based, user-centered product management
  • Manage and lead a team
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors or advanced degree in IT, computer science, engineering, business, design, human computer interaction or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of relevant Product Management experience (Dev, UX, Strategy, etc.)
  • 3+ years experience in strategy creation, customer focused solutions, cross-functional leadership, etc.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience with varied production methodologies such as Agile development, Waterfall and/or Lean Development.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional team without formal authority.
  • Progressive experience leading larger and more complex areas; with larger budgets and additional responsibilities.
  • 8+ years experience in project financials & resource allocations
  • 8+ years formal leadership experience and demonstrated success developing engaged, inclusive teams
  • 4+ years experience in a retail organization
  • 2+ years indirect cross functional leadership
  • Experience managing partner & vendor relationships
  • Ability to understand complex architectural diagrams and data flows in detail. Important to have or be able to develop an understanding of the technology stack and most importantly having the ability to understand the level of effort involved to assist with making important decisions for multiple complex product line(s).
